So yeah the left headlight on my dads Forester stopped working, so I pulled the thing from behind it and sprayed it with contact cleaner. It worked. I was feeling it, so I grabbed the WD40 and sprayed his door hinges, wich were a bit tough going.

3sgte swap on my Celica when?

Do the swap now, while you still got the mending touch!

Good job. Now oil or spray lube the hinges since the WD40 isn’t a good lubricant.

Oh.. I thought when stuff doesn’t move when it should, use WD40..

Guess thats only for seized or rusty bolts..

That’s the advertising. WD40 is useful for a lot of stuff if you only have that around but doesn’t do any of the jobs as well as dedicated products.

Seized or rusty bolts - get a real penetrating oil, works a lot better - PB Blaster, Kroil, or acetone/trans fluid mix. I use PB Blaster since I can buy it locally. People swear by Kroil and that acet/trans mix but Kroil is hard to find other than online and I haven’t tried that mix yet.

Same with lubrication - WD40 has a “little” lubrication property but you need a proper oil, grease, etc for it to last.

Anyway, fixing stuff is a good feeling like Clarkson is feeling it. And you’ve learned stuff. Like BvdV says, now on to bigger projects!

About bulbs: a friend’s Grand Am bulb went out. I took a quick look under the hood. I couldn’t even figure out how you’re supposed to reach the headlight! Front end sheetmetal completely covered the headlight unit/bulb/wiring. Maybe you get to it from under the car or through the wheel well. Didn’t have time to figure it out. And a friend couldn’t figure out how to get to his Honda Pilots taillight bulb - dealer charged him $50 to replace it, told him “only dealers can replace that bulb”. People are idiots (my friend, that dealer, myself) so you’re doing well.
